Villages near Charlbury? W Oxfordshire

Hello

It’s been ages since I’ve posted and I’ve no idea if I’m in the right topic area!

I’d be grateful for any mumsnetters advice on villages near Charlbury, West Oxfordshire. We may be relocating out of London this year.

We’ve seen Ascott under Wychwood which looked nice and having a station is good! I am interested in Leafield, Ramsden or any villages mumsnetters would recommend living in with small children (a playground always helps!).

We don’t know the area very well and are hoping for nice views and to not be on top of our neighbours. The usual pub, shop, village green, cricket pitch dream criteria all apply! Has anyone got any advice on lovely idyllic friendly villages (!)?

Thanks!

Is charlbury itself no good? Too expensive?

Be careful thinking that the station at Ascott will be useful. The trains only stop there very occasionally so take a good look at the timetable before committing for that reason! I

Be careful relocating from a city to a tiny village, we did it and we are now in a small town, still west oxon, but we didn't adjust to village life as well as we thought. But there are lots of lovely villages round here though if you're sure that rural living is for you.

Have a look at Combe. It has a picture perfect cricket pitch, good primary school and lots going on. Not too isolated and has a train staion as well.

We made this exact move back in November, only we have ended up in north oxen. Can't help with West villages, but good luck! We are so happy in our new lives, it clearly was a big change, but easily the best thing we've done!
