Handsome guy insulted me

Long story short. There is that guy in my work that I like very much. Two days ago he asked me to join him in a restaurant and everything was going well until the bill came. He said that he will pay his part and I will pay mine. I felt very insulted and told him that this is not the way things work. He got very angry and told me that wanting him to pay the whole bill was indirect prostitution. I got very insulted and still cannot get it off my head. Is he right? Is this indirect prostitution? Prostitution involves exchange of money with sex not with food right?
