Seriously, why do some non resident parents insist on not paying maintenance?

Why should the resident parent pay for everything?

I am on to CMS on Monday! Two exes and neither pay. Grrrrr

Good luck with that! Same boat here ex and I split up 3 years ago and the only maintenance he's payed is when he was forced to via CMS. Noe he keeps switching jobs and avoiding them! It's a long drawn out process that I started over two years ago and I've had the grand amount of FOUR payments! They're scum if you ask me!!

debbs77 Sat 07-Jan-17 17:44:30

Aren't they! My ex has paid £10 for 4 children in 7 years.

Recent ex is on job seekers and therefore I should be paying!

I'd get onto CMS and get a claim started! If he's on jsa the. 5/7 £ a week depending on how many kids should be coming off his benefits. It's not a lot but every penny counts! Why has the other ex not paid anything?

Remember it will cost £20 to open a claim pre NRP maybe stop them skipping out on it! Be prepared to wait though

Definitely getting on it on Monday. As for the first ex, he is just an arse! Wants equity out of the house to be able to pay it, despite working full time!

Hmm it sure of the ins and outs there! CMS will tell you though! Good luck!

CMS told me that they'd give my ex 4 weeks to reply to their letter! should be the standard 14 days not 28!

Twolittlejobbys Sat 07-Jan-17 22:50:31

Oh yes! Then another 4 weeks, then another, and another blah blah blah! Then you'll need to push for a deductions of earnings order, which takes around 3 months to get in place. It's never bloody ending, but one good point is the arrears will start to accumulate from around the first point of contact!

Twolittlejobbys Sat 07-Jan-17 22:51:28

Ps. Don't expect anything in the next few months! That way you'll manage! And if you get it sooner look at it as a bonus.

Luckily I'm going to have near enough the same wage as if I was working whilst on although I could do with the money, I don't desperately need it.

They did say that if all goes well, il be paid within 6 weeks, however to me that's a fucking joke!

Il apply as soon as I've put the child Benefit claim in & probably not expect any money for 9 months minimum.

However, if the ex has any sense, he'll pay up.....otherwise he'll have to cover the arrears too & that'll seriously piss him off.

If he wants to play the game of who gets the last laugh, by all means he can crack on....we know who'll be getting that!

He can't bear to pay money out that he doesn't feel is necessary.....but, he's the kind of guy who gets worried about things & the fact that I told him that if he messed around with payments, he'll have arrears, charges & court fees thrown on as well as his monthly payment & could end up owing thousands.

The prospect of the above scared him!
So hopefully the man child will simply accept he's the father & make payments from his next pay day.

If he thought me emailing his boss was bad, he hasn't a sodding clue what CMS are legally entitled to do!
Considering the department he works in deals with his wages, it won't look good on him when his boss gets a lovely letter from CMS asking to take £200 a month from his money as he hasn't bothered!

Oooooh what fun!

Yep, I'm being quite smug right now lol....he thinks he got it all sorted!!

debbs77 Sun 08-Jan-17 18:50:51

Makes me laugh, he says he can't afford to pay anything yet as he isn't earning any money.

Yet turns up today smelling of fags ........hmmmmmmm

Also, when he said that he isn't earning money, I said "well what if I'm not earning money?" (I'm self employed). He said "then you need to use your nursery time better" !!!!!

Yet he has all day every day and STILL can't make money!

How rude!

It's a national disgrace that we need to have a whole government department devoted to chasing up these arseholes and still they don't pay. I think there are other countries where it's easier. Regardless, there needs to be a societal rethink on this one as it is so common now that many just shrug their shoulders when they hear about it.
