Dreading tomorrow funeral

Tomorrow I bury my uncle . Feeling low as its nearly 20 months since stbxh left .No new partner so of I go alone again. I have done a 80th birthday , a wedding now this. To make matters harder both my parents died when I was 17 .now 41. So if people ask how I knew my uncle it gets can get difficult as they feel guilty. I have booked a hotel near the event as sons are at there dads and i wish I had not. . x

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this on your own. Other people shouldn't be querying your relationship with your uncle - you're attending the funeral to pay your respects and remember him. Don't worry about them feeling guilty, that's not your problem, just try and get through the day as well as you can. You never know, you may find unexpected friends/family there - I know I did at my DF's funeral a while ago. Also, if you don't want to stay over, don't, just go home, if that's feasible, of course.

Flowers I am going to a funeral tomorrow too. I'd say just go home as well, if you can. Get yourself whatever you like as a treat (wine, chocolate, gin - whatever!) on the way back, make a big duvet cocoon when you get home and just be kind to yourself. best wishes.

Update . Did pre funeral lunch and then spent longer at wake as my Scottish faml were staying at hotel. Cancelled other hotel and came home .Got a credit note as they didn't have any rooms with a suitable fire alarm. I wear hearing aids .. Lovely service and send off. Home safe and well

Well done for getting through that.

Sometimes the build up is the worst bit when you're dreading something.
