Friday night blues

So I'm having a really bad 'hate being single' day. Went to sell my wedding and engagement rings today and ended up bursting into tears in the jeweller's shop :( Luckily, the guy was really lovely and started welling up himself!

Anyway, I'm doing one of those 'bottle of wine and a proper home cooked dinner for a change' things in a vain attempt to cheer myself up. Is there such thing as a film to accompany this mood? Something which will preferably make me member how shit it is being married sometimes and that you're better of being single?? And ideally on Netflix cos my free subscription runs out at midnight! ;-)

Sending hugs to anyone also feeling the Friday night blues...x

The last kiss always winds me up and makes me glad I'm not with a man like that. I don't know if it's just me but it really does give me the rage.

I hope you enjoy your night, what are you cooking?

Hello maggie sending you a hug cos I know how your feeling, I too have the Friday night blues. It's my first Friday being single for 3 years. My fuckwit kept my engagement ring, wished I'd hung onto it at least I could've flogged it as he stole ÂŁ200 from me as well.

Hope you enjoy your wine ,keep your chin up

Take care x

It's a daft film but The Naked Gun has just come onto Netflix, it might just cheer you up. That or Mean Girls Smile

I have decided all men are bastards ! never going to let myself get broken by another one ! stay strong ! enjoy a chick flick . can't think of an appropriate one I'm afraid . but don't dwell on bad stuff. just think of all the good things you can do now that you don't have to look after him anymore ! (((big hug to you )))

Ooh Mean Girls! I'll put it on the shortlist...

I'm not sure all men are bastards but they're certainly all fucking cowards and emotional retards!!

Just checked on Netflix & they've got Mean Girls 2 (which is total shit!) but not Mean Girls 1?! Not sure what that's all about...

In my experience, if you're feeling low, the last thing you need is a chick flick/movie that makes you think at all about marriage or partnerships. Go for action adventure/thriller or sci fi.

'The Mist' is a good Friday night movie with a bottle. It will drive all thoughts of men out of your mind, trust me.

Bah. Has anyone seen 'What to expect when you're expecting'? It looks terrible but then again so did Eat Pray Love and I found myself enjoying that even though I really wanted to hate it.

Haven't seen that Maggie, sorry. The Mist is good though. The Cabin
In the Woods & the Woman in Black are both on there & good if you do decide you fancy a fright.

I really enjoyed what to expect when you're expecting! Went to see it for free at the cinema as needed to use some vouchers and it's actually pretty funny!

I'm going to recommend magic mike ;) it'll make you wonder what you ever saw in the ex!

But I'd fast forward through the story bits and go straight to the stripping. The story's shit.

I was so pleasantly surprised by What To Expect When You're Expecting! Smile

Cheered me right up after I lost a close friend (not a death...it was just the last straw) & it helped me forget it as it's quite silly and you can totally relate if you've had a kid.

Hope you feel better Thanks

Hmm, What To Expect being bumped up the list. DD away with her dad for a week which is definitely contributing to the FN blues sitch :(

Can't do horrors on my own, get too freaked out! And thanks for the Magic Mike suggestion but I can't stand Matthew McConaughy (sp?) x

Thx for all the suggestions though, just having you reply has cheered me right up xxx

I'd recommend The Tudors (and you can lust after Henry Cavill) but I'm conscious that your sub runs out at midnight so you won't get anywhere near all of it in.

Go for something old hat - how about A Fish Called Wanda? I watched it again last week for the first time in years and I'd forgotten what a hoot it is.

I'm not a fan of MM either, but he's not in it that much! It's worth it just for joe mangiello (sp?) imo.

I can't think of anything else to recommend either!

Hey Krunk, I'm an old hand unfortunately! Been in a marvellous 'cant be fucked with relationships' phase for a while but it occasionally slips and I feel sorry for myself for a bit ;-)

If I come on the drunk thread later can I have a sneaky roll up out the back door, Scoose?! Although I might just lurk :)

Hmm, Tudors is on Netflix?! Might have to subscribe!! :-D
