Friend posted embarrassing and childish status on my facebook timeline. Am I being too sensitive??

Yesterday I was in the next toilet cubicle to my friend and we were talking whilst weeing (as you do!) and I accidentally broke wind. She kind of stopped talking as I did it but then carried on, it was so embarrassing. But then it happened again about 3 times and she stopped talking completely and it sounded like she was silently in hysterics (I know what she's like, she cracks up over anything and everything). I was mortified but as we left the toilets she never mentioned anything and everything seemed normal so I kind of forgot about it.
Late last night though I got a facebook notification to say she'd posted something on my timeline and when I went to it she'd put "what talks loud and goes pump pump pump?? MyGrain does! xx". To make it even worse a few friends had asked what it was about and she'd replied that I'd had a "pumping fit" in the toilet and had tried to talk louder to disguise it!! shock mortified.

Am I being too sensitive to be quite upset and angry?

You can delete it from your timeline/hide it from your timeline.
She sounds quite immature, TBH.

DearPrudence Thu 06-Jun-13 09:08:37

What a strange 'friend'. No, you're not being too sensitive.

Frenchgirlinuk Thu 06-Jun-13 09:10:59

Not nice at all and very immature. If it hapened to me with a friend we would laugh at it together!

scratchandsniff Thu 06-Jun-13 09:11:55

I'm sure she wasn't trying to deliberately embarrass you. I can see why you'd be upset though. Hide it/delete it from your timeline - there should be a cog icon next to the post, click on that.

MrsDoomsPatterson Thu 06-Jun-13 09:14:14

Delete that. I would hate that on my timeline!

HellonHeels Thu 06-Jun-13 09:22:03

She doesn't sound particularly kind. Are you sure you want to be friends with her? Delete the post. Delete her?

fuzzywuzzy Thu 06-Jun-13 09:24:01

delete it from your timeline, she does sound very immature.

TakingTheStairs Thu 06-Jun-13 09:24:37

What a nasty childish person.
hide that from your timeline and delete her as a FB friend.

MyGrain Thu 06-Jun-13 09:25:30

I did delete it but by the time I saw it loads of other mutual friends had seen it and replied to it sad back at work tomorrow too so I'll have the piss taken out of me all day.

picnicbasketcase Thu 06-Jun-13 09:27:10

Delete it and her. Or think of something embarrassing she's done and put that all over the Internet.

treaclesoda Thu 06-Jun-13 09:31:34

Not overly sensitive on your part, it just wasn't a very nice thing to do.

Watch out though, because next thing she'll be saying it was only a joke, you're too easily offended, you have no sense of humour etc. People like this nearly always resort to those excuses when they overstep the line...

CatelynStark Thu 06-Jun-13 09:37:06

That's horrid. You might want to adjust your settings so that anything posted to your timeline needs your approval before it goes on.

CatelynStark Thu 06-Jun-13 09:37:25

Or delete the bitch.

Either one works for me smile

Woofsaidtheladybird Thu 06-Jun-13 09:42:14

How very unkind of her, and terribly immature. What is she, 12?

Jeez, if you can't fart on the loo, where can you?

I'd delete the post from your timeline, and possibly, as others suggest, delete her. And tell her as well.

What a stupid insensitive crappy thing to do.

PirateMonkey Thu 06-Jun-13 09:43:55

What a silly and immature thing to do. Remove post and unfriend her.

Woofsaidtheladybird Thu 06-Jun-13 09:44:13

Ah. Re work. Well, ask them where they fart then? Cos everyone does it. In front of everyone in the office? Mid shag? Loudly mid chat? No. You did it on the loo. FFS. If work take the piss, then they're twats too.

lisac99 Thu 06-Jun-13 09:45:16

Is she a good friend? I wouldn't imagine so if she writes things like that on your wall.

If she doesn't work at the same place as you, I'd be tempted to say (if anyone asks) 'Yeah, my friend was having a few bowel issues and wrote on my wall to take the mick' and leave it like that.

I'd also restrict what your friend can do on your FB wall or just delete her altogether

superduperwuper Thu 06-Jun-13 10:27:40

Would delete it shes sounds a bit dim and a facebook liability.

Would also put her on a list where she can't see my wall.

You can also set it up so you have to review every wall post / phototag before it goes public.

Many people find breaking wind to be totally hilarious for some reason.

oh yes ha ha, we take in air when we swallow and the digestion of our food also produces gases which our bodies expel. oh, my sides ache from all the laughing. hmm

I suggest you are just matter of fact. If anyone mentions it, or makes a joke, give them your best baffled look and say yes, I broke wind while using the toilet. It's a perfectly normal thing to do, you know."

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows Thu 06-Jun-13 10:36:36

Hmmm <mulls> Well, I'd be embarrassed and think she was a bit of a twat, but everyone farts. Even the Queen. So don't be too mortified. Rise above any teasing safe in the knowledge that everyone has guffed inappropriately at some point.

Frenchgirlinuk Thu 06-Jun-13 10:37:29

Re work I would reply: my friends 3 year old finds it hilarious when people fart, haven't you grown out of that phase yet? with a big confudebt smile grin

babadabadoo Thu 06-Jun-13 20:48:43

does she know how you feel - its natural to break wind on the toilet as i am sure she knows - what an idiot and i agree she doesnt sound like a good friend

Chiggers Thu 06-Jun-13 21:35:24

It's a natural thing to do, in fact, why don't you smile at her every time she brings it up. It'll get her thinking, then when she asks you why your smiling at her (keep it going for a week or so), tell her that you'd brought a whoopee cushion into the toilet to see if she would fall for it.
