I'm in April 1918 of Home Front which is an epic saga of the first world war on Radio It's nearly finished. It's kept me going through insomniac nights and whilst working the last couple of months. Now it's keeping me company through sleepiness nights with a painful gallstone infection. There are some gaps in the plot where I've fallen asleep and 6 episodes on wonder how someone found their baby/father etc when I didn't know they had one. Despite this I cannot help but feel totally bereft. (3 hours sleep will distort stuff) I'm already weeping for all the people I'll never meet again and for the return of being awake at 4am trying to pick a podcast.
I felt like this when I finally finished listening to David Mitchell's The Thousand Autumn's of Jabob de Zoot. It's like something's died.
I've done most of what I can deal with on Librivox. Although I expect I'll attempt Proust again although some books are so tedious they actually keep me awake.
Does anyone know what I mean?
