Double buggies - Out n About or Mountain Buggy?

I am expecting number 3 soon and need to replace our Phil and Teds which I cannot stand for various reasons but mainly because I cannot lift it onto car boot so choice seems to be Out n About or Mountain Buggy. I need something that works off road but also shopping and I have to be able to fold it without having a tantrum and lift it in and out of car. Out n About seems the preferred choice at this stage and it helps that it is almost half the price but any advice on either would be most welcome!!

I have a mountain buggy single and double, but the pre 2010 model. The newer version is made by phil and teds. For me the mountain buggy both single and double are perfect, its great around town and outstanding off road, and folds very easily. However, the double is fairly heavy for lifting into and out of a car (could not compare to other doubles though!) and does take up a lot of boot space, think only just fit into a volkswagen passat estate boot with a bit of wriggling around. Hope this helps.

Thank you Cathpip. I think the Mountain Buggy is a few kilos heavier than the Out n About but not sure so will carry on researching!

I'm the same as cathpip - a single and double Mountain Buggy owner. I've have many buggies (I'm a CM) and these are by far my favourites.

They are easy to push, beautifully weighted, easy in the snow (!), comfy for the little ones - I'm quite evangelical about Mountain Buggies.

However, they are very heavy. The fold on the double is quite cumbersome. It will fit in the boot of my Citroen Xsara Picasso, just, if all the wheels are removed.

All-in-all, I think they are more for town and off-roading rather than in and out of the car. Much as I love them!

I would get a double nipper.
They are narrow in width.
Light to lift in the boot.
Light to push fully loaded, one handed.
Have good hoods and waterproofs.
Can have another child on the front footplate, and still push it easily.
Goes anywhere.

They are a lot cheaper
The are narrow enough to go through most doors
They turn on themselves
They are very light
I got mine into my sisters cleo

I have bought other buggys and i got rid of them quite quickly cos they just werent as good.

What about a city mini.. They are light easy to fold, I'm pregnant with number 2 and haven't yet (obvs) got my double but def the one I will be getting as all the reviews and friends that have it say its amazing!

Hmmm...I wouldn't buy a MB at all. I loved my Nipper (the narrow V2 is worth hunting down) BUT the harnesses are huge - even for a big child, I dont like the one big hood, and I dont like the mesh behind a sleeping child's head. But its a breeze to push and I do like it a lot.
However, have you also looked at the Bumbleride Indie Twin, TFK Twinner Twist Duo, Easywalker Duo, Air Buggy Mimi and Baby Jogger City Mini GT / Elite?
The Baby Jogger, Air Buggy, Easywalker and TFK are as easy to get in and out of the boot as the Nipper. The Mountain Buggy folds are long and awkward and barely fitted in my boot.

Thanks everyone (new nickname). I think I will go for the Nipper. It seems the best one for dog walking across muddy fields, shopping and ease of getting in boot of car.
