Out n About Nipper 360 or Baby Jogger City Elite?

Having given up on getting my Brio Sing fixed, I now need to buy a new pushchair. I think I've narrowed it down to either the Nipper 360 or City Elite.
I need a sturdy pushchair, good for paths and off road that could manage the beach. Good in all weather as school run is a fair walk whatever the weather! My 18 mo DD is tall and weighs 13kg, so something that is comfortable for her and easy for me to push.
So, i think these two fit the bill, but I will be ordering online and not able to see one to have a play with before. Wanted to get opinions from people who have used these or any recommendations for others that would be suitable. Thanks.

For me there is no question - the Elite.

Why? Its much much higher spec - thick padded seat, great harness, higher handlebar, fabulous huge hood, it has the lift up calf rest, loads of peekaboo windows, handbrake, loads of storage and most of all a proper upright seating position.

The Nipper has a much lower handle, and on the single the handlebar is small ie not much room for two hands, the new lower basket has really poor access but there are lots of handy storage pockets. I hate the uncovered mesh behind a reclined child's head, the hood leaves the child more exposed. The tilted seat seems comfy - my children like it - but it is an odd sort of angle and I know many children dont like it. The footrest is smaller for an older child. There is a good padded liner. I am never convinced about the brake after all the issues with them.

The Elite feels more sturdy simply because its heavier. The fast fold is awesome and its neat folded. The Nipper takes more steps to fold / open but is lighter to lift. I have had the Nipper as a summer pushchair, but it wouldn't be my first choice for a winter pushchair. Both managed the beach fine.

They are really in different classes of pushchair. Dont get me wrong, I loved my Nipper, but theres no question that the Elite is better.

Thank you very much Tiggy! Ok, I think I will have to search ebay for a used Elite in that case. I was hoping the nipper would be the way to go, from a money point of view, as I can't quite stretch to a brand new Elite!

Buy a Nipper then :) Its still good - the Elite is much better. You could always look for a second hand Baby Jogger Classic - it was the forerunner for the Elite and although I dont know much about them, I am sure you can learn by Googling and given what I know of Baby Joggers its probably a good bet. A friend of mine has the double and it looks great.

I've got a nipper and it's brilliant, best buggy I have owned (and I have owned a few!) excellent value for money, good on and off road and so solid you couldn't break it if you tried!

Saw this thread. I love my BJCE. (Thanks Tiggy for the original recommendation and reassurance about my choice!) Massive hood, great big seat, forever air tyres, handbrake, adjustable handlebar. Looks so comfy for baby, pushes amazingly and the fold is just great.

I know you say it's more money - not sure what area you're in but I've seen a few come up on Gumtree that are a few months old. Also there are no significant differences between the 2012 model and last year's model I believe apart from colour (but Tiggy can probably confirm this) so it might be worth seeing if any shops have last year's model discounted.

Or on sale in Argos - type in baby jogger. Think there might be some Argos money off vouchers around pre-Christmas. HTH

dldl thank you for your responses, very helpful. Have seen the Argos one and will have a scout on preloved and gumtree. Sadly not in London so the one you linked too is to far away for me to collect. The Argos one is good value though- My DH prefers look of the nipper so have to talk him into it I think!

Just an update... We decided to go with the Elite! It arrived today and I couldn't be more pleased with it, in fact I wish I'd bought it right from the start rather than have gone through 6 others in the past 18 months!
Thanks tiggy for your concise comparison of the two-it was so helpful, and thanks dldl for your thoughts and the heads-up re the price reduction at argos! Off to buy some new accessories for it now.... Wink
