Best buggy for long walks/jogs and a little off-roading?

Hi,
Don't mind getting something 2nd hand as don't want to spend a fortune. Need something to walk/jog 2 miles on pavements then walk the dog off-road for a mile or so, then back home again 2 miles. That's the dog's and my fitness plan to lose weight lol!! Must be suitable from birth as LO is a month old.

So - recommendations pls!

I dont believe it is recommended that you jog with a newborn but I will send someone along to help who knows more than I do!

We bought a second hand Jane 3 wheeler for walking on the moors and through the woods. It was also excellent on the beaches. It was brill but not sure how old our DS1 was when we started using it. He was about 4 months old I think.

Also look at Mountain Buggy ones. And there's another make that escapes my mind. Think it begins with an O and is an outdoory name. In fact any 3 wheelers with wheels you pump up are the sort to get.

How about a sling?

Dp wants to be able to take our (unborn) dc out (walking) with his running club, so that's what we'll be using for the first 6-9 months. We came to the conclusion that any pushchair would be too bouncy for a baby that young, especially till he can hold his head up :)

You can't jog with a baby under 6m (or 12m if you are jogging off road) as it shakes the baby too much (their heads are very large in proportion to their bodies but their necks are weak - not a good combo).

You may be best off getting an off roading pushchair like a mountain buggy and using it with the carrycot for walking then when baby is old enough getting a dedicated running pushchair (16-20" wheels are a must for running/jogging).

I have a BOB Ironman buggy which I love! I can run with it, take it on all terrains, lob it over stiles, chuck it over gates (obviously with boy removed), it is built to last and like a 4x4!
My BOB has 16inch wheels, most off roaders have 12inches, the bigger the wheels the better as the ride is smoother and the buggy can cope with the roots/stones/rocks better.

I do all that with a Phil and Ted's Sport, although not before either baby was 6 months old.
