Best Off-roader

We are moving to an area of France that has lots of lovely mountain walks and at 2 my DD won't be able to walk too far, so I'm wondering what the best off-roader is?? I've got a Bee Plus for everyday shopping etc so the off-roader would be just for that. Thx.

That said if it is very off road you might be better off getting a good back pack. Even the MB has its limits and at 2 you won't be carrying all the time, just to give a break.

and also they can carry a large child, i can push my 5 year old around in mine with no problem and one handed, so will last you well past her not needing a pushchair

If you're getting it for off road then I'd go for the Terrain. Once you get used to a fixed wheel it's fine and definitely more stable on bumpy ground.

I would get at least an Urban Jungle. The Terrain has the hand brake / disk brake for going down hills. The Trends for Kids Twister has a hand brake too and is good off road.

i have the urban, think the swift has smaller wheels and i think is best suited to urban life not off roading, the terrain is the best off roader with larger wheels the new one looks fab with handbrake large wheels and a lockable self tracking front wheel watch the video on mountainbuggy.com , the older terrain has a fixed front wheel

Ooh I didn't know there was a new terrain. I think you'd be ok with the urban as well tbh, that's what I've got although it's a few years old now, not the latest model. I think the swift is more of a town buggy rather than off roading.

I assume by a lockable tracking wheel is that you are referring to the fact you can lock the front wheel pointing forwards instead of underneath like most pushchairs? It's a clever feature!

yes, it locks forward it looks fab, would'nt mind one myself, watched the video and wished i had got the terrain rather than the urban but never mind.

it locks underneath and forward and has some kind of tracking device i think to stop wheel wobble or to keep straight when fixed at the forward position i guess, does not really explain on the website, but it is a true off roader

The swift is great off road. It also happens to be good in urban situations too.
If you are somewhere with thick heather moorland, lots of rocks, or boggy areas then the baby jogger summit xc would do well. It has all wheel suspension, large 16" rear wheels and a 12" front wheel that can swivels or locks.
Its less expensive than the mountain buggy and has all the quality you'd want.
The baby jogger has a fantastic pull handle fold thats fast and convenient. It filds up really small for what it is too.

The baby jogger summit xc front wheel locks out forwards too, and it has rear drum brakes. You get a lot for your money with the babyjogger.
