We've been gazumped

by £20,000!

I realise I am going to have to buy you all a large drink for the amount of property therapy I seem to be needing at the moment but honestly!

I have spent much of the day weeping.

In the past 12 months we have had

  • 2 buyers pull out
  • our vendor pull out so we had to move into rented
  • property prices to increase from the moment we sold
  • our landlord give us notice

and now we've been gazumped.

Please make it better!

I'm sorry - you must be beyond gutted. It is so stressful - you have all my sympathy. You'll get there in the end though - that house just wasn't meant to be.

((((((fruitstick))))))

for you. Thats far too much crap property luck in a year, I wish I could make it better.

FWIW, we still think prices will drop at some point over the next year...maybe as much as 15%. Could be wrong, but in spite of all current mad prices in our area, are still moving into a rental in 2 weeks (having sold at last, after losing 2 buyers in the past 12 months just like you) with this firmly in mind.

Meantime, gazuming is horrible and should be illegal and I'm really sorry. Buy yourself that large drink, and hang in - you'll get there.

Thanks hassled. It doesn't feel like it at the moment though.

Trouble is we can afford the extra £20k but are worried about market dropping next year and terrified of paying over the odds.

Join the gazumped gang... I hope you were overbid before you paid for survey.... We have been overbid twice already in different cities. We will have to go into rental again unless a miracle happens...

Oh fruitstick :-(. I can't believe this has happened to you. It wasn't meant to be though I'm sure of it. I know its so hard to see but these things happen for a reason.

I hope the vendors can't sleep at night.

I'm so sorry to hear that - you have had such a rotten time. Vendors really shouldn't be allowed to have viewings when people ar investing money in surveys etc. I hope it falls through for them!!
