Come and help me sort out what to do with my bedroom - long, sorry

Right, our bedroom is rubbish at the moment but we are tackling it now. The house is a Victorian end terrace. The room is relatively small for a master bedroom.

Currently, across the long wall are those awful awful sliding mirrored panels on a runner (previous owners were kings of the botch job), this currently goes across the chimney breast (no fireplace or anything) with a gap of about 4 inches dead space. Our bed is currently pushed up to the other wall because it doesn't quite fit the other way round IYSWIM, the head and foot ends curve slightly at the top so we'd have to shuffle round it and get permanently bruised hips.

Still with me? I've had someone round from Sharps to design a wardrobe and he suggested a corner wardrobe going round the corner from the window into one of the alcoves. I think this is a pretty good idea, and I think if we replaced the bed to one with completely vertical head and footboards, or with no footboard, this would give us about 67cm of space between the end of the bed and the chimney breast. Is this too small do you think, or is this a pretty good solution?

The design of the wardrobe would give us more hanging space than we currently have, would look a million times nicer and free up the other alcove for bookshelves etc. The price is pretty good too but I have to decide by Sunday and am in a quandry!

I think I'm going to have to do that, aren't I? SIIIIIIGGHGH. Oh well, at least it will give me a chance to see what I can dispose of from all the crap well-loved items under the bed.

A corner wardrobe may make the room darker (if it's as I'm imagining) Definitely have a bed without a footboard in a small/compromised room though.

The wardrobe would be right by the MASSIVE window but that is definitely worth bearing in mind, thank you.

We have a fab corner wardrobe from the Ikea PAX range.

We are the same as thehairybabysmum, we have Pax wardrobes from Ikea and have the corner wardrobe plus loads of others.

Interior fittings are very cheap, about £2 for a single hanging rail, I think a whopping £3 for the double version

They have an on-line planner although I haven't used it. I have had my oldest pax wardrobes for 9 years!

I also bet that they are MUCH cheaper than Sharps fitted wardrobes.

We have their interior drawers (plastic, no-one sees them) they can be over-filled, always a bonus and pulled all the way out so no rifling at the back of the drawer for something.

Cannot praise it enough really. Hopefully you have an ikea near you

Agree about no footboard on bed, makes a room appear bigger. You could get a divan with storage underneath to help with all the clutter essentials
