Hi
Any advice would be much appreciated! I live in Shropshire and I want to move South and start a new life. My son who is 17 needs to do an art foundation course and then graphic design at uni. I've heard Bournemouth and Bath have good courses. Can anyone tell me if they know if either are a good place to live? Or have any other suggestions? I am a single parent and don't have much money. I would need to rent somewhere with two bedrooms for around 500pcm. Don't want to live in a dump, and would like to be either in or near a city.Shropshire is just toooo quiet......
thanks in advance,
Mia

I lived in Bournemouth for two years and really liked it. Very busy in the summer which can be a bit of a headache regarding traffic but on the other hand is very lively. I lived in Branksome Park which is an expensive area (I was a nanny) but there are cheaper areas. A friend of mine lives in Boscombe and another friend lives in Charminster which are more reasonable.

I think your son would like it.

both are lovely with lots of plus points but very different. bournemouth is slightly isolated from the rest of the country compared to bath though. bath i reckon probably a lot more expensive.

I have heard that the art foundation courses are very good at both Bath College and Trowbridge college.

Bath is a fabulous city but pretty expensive. Trowbridge an average town but cheaper to rent.

Bournemouth also good, much bigger and busier than Bath.

Can't compare as I haven't lived in Bournemouth but I LOVED living in Bath as a student. The architecture really does lift the soul. Lots of great stuff to do. Bristol nearby. Lots of options for the future for your son. There are some expensive areas but regular families live their too.
