my husband's lost his payslips and p60. before i go nuclear, does anyone know if we can still apply for a mortgage without them?

am trying, very very hard to keep calm. i've packed, done all the admin, all the selling of the old place, finding the new one, negotiating the price. all he had to do was keep hold of a few bits of **ing paper.

i''ve just had a glass of red wine after a few hellish house moving weeks, thinking we could relax. Dh's now gone to the storage place to try to hunt out the box, which I just know is not there.

My dh got copies from his work. Unless his slips were handwritten they should indeed be regeneratable (sp!).

Payslips are easy to replace. Just ask payroll for a printout. I have done that myself in the past - arrived on my desk within 24 hours.

As someone who runs a payroll can I tell you that it is not just that simple. Files will have to be loaded and rolled back etc, so if he does ask his company for copies, make sure he asks really nicely! Yes it can be done but it is a pain in the arse and if the payroll person is not very friendly and does not want to do it, then they do not have to, they are not obilged to do it. Remind him to grovel when he asks oranges. If they are a really efficient firm, they may have taken a copy of his P60 so they only have to find payslips for the past 6 months. Mind you, don't mortgage companies normally ask for the past 3 months?

Yes definitely a favour! Possible though. dh got his company to produce copies of the last year of pay slips, as they omitted to tell us it would be needed for our US visa application (which they were managing) until we were on route, goods to follow in six weeks... They still made a bit of a fuss about it though.

It depends on the payroll, its pretty easy on the payroll I use, if I'm not busy I can do it straight away.

What ISN'T funny is 6 years worth of P60 figures as I had the other day. The last 2 were in archived boxes!

well he found it, after having driven tot he storage depot at midnight instead of facing my wrath . It's good to know how invaluable they are though!
