False chimney breast wall cost?

I would like to get a false chimney breast wall built to put my tv on and a fire, has anyone done this? Trying to get an idea of cost and if DH would be able to build it himself (He's not the greatest DIYer).

We did this, it looks great and you would never know it's fake. We put a log burner in it. I'm going to be really annoying now though and say I don't know how much it cost! My ex husband did it himself but he is now and ex so I can't ask him sorry! I don't think it was overly expensive though. He was a bricklayer by trade though so had good general building skills also.

Gas / open / log burner / 'fake' fire??

If just to hang TV then very simple stud work with timber infills to screw tv to. If you want to put a log burner in the it will have to be brick / blockwork and much more expensive. Don;t get DH to do it.

The frame would be easy enough to do. Some bits of wood covered by gyprock. The hard bit would be plastering over. Plastering is a skill I havent mastered!

Get a couple of quotes and see what the cost is. Mind and say the fire is just an electric fire.

Then depending on how horrific the quotes are you DH may manage to do some of the work himself, with perhaps a plasterer to finish it off?
