Fireplace/stove on internal wall

We have an old victorian house and I would really like to put a fireplace in the lounge. The only place it really fits is on an internal wall. I thought about building a fake chimney breast with brick inside to make it look more realistic and something like a Dimplex Burgate Opti-myst Electric stove. As realistic as it may look, would this be really strange on an internal wall? I really like the look of the fireplace and alcoves in the link below. Please let me know your opinions. Thanks. www.instagram.com/p/BopESwKDyth/

Not sure where else a fireplace could go than an internal wall?

Distracted by the books in that pic, even they are grey & whiteGrin

Fireplaces are usually on an external wall.

...meaning the wall in your lounge that faces outside, not the one that faces your hallway.

We've got 2 fireplaces on what you call internal walls - with chimneys above them that are through the centre of the house.

I'd be wary of putting something blatantly fake into a Victorian house. Has your house had the chimneys and original fireplaces removed?

Ah, I see what you mean.

Both of our fireplaces are on walls which face the hallway, at 90
degrees to the window. The chimneys run up through the house.

As pp said, where are your chimney stacks now? Could you open them up and put a fireplace in?

Yes, chimneys and original fireplaces have been removed (not by us). If we put a fireplace in where it would have been it would be difficult to get family size furniture in. Is there any way of posting a picture? I'm on a mac.

We have a gas stove on an internal wall but it is in a proper chimney breast that runs up the middle of the house .
