Help! Why is my emulsion patchy? Is it me or the wall??

Decorating. Sugar soaped and primed over the existing paint. Have given it two coats of a Dulux Trade white emulsion. And it’s still patchy! The original colour was a peachy orange colour but not particularly dark. I’m dreading doing the terracotta bedrooms Shock

Am I a bad decorator or should I be doing something different when I roll the paint on or something?

Help! Why is my emulsion patchy? Is it me or the wall??

(Excuse general state of room, the place is a proper fixer upper.)

Cover the wall with paint then, before its dry, finish with a thin layer of vertical floor to ceiling strokes - you can see the different angles of the roller on your wall.

Have been trying to go floor to ceiling - and I’ve done loads of decorating before even though this doesn’t look like it!

More coats it is then. Thanks.
