Where would you put the washing machine?

We have recently moved house and the ground floor is mainly open plan. While I wouldn’t have knocked everything through myself, I do like the sense of light and space that it gives. At the moment the washing machine is in the conservatory! That’s just where the plumbing is.

We are looking to redo the kitchen and I don’t know what to do with the washing machine/tumble dryer. I don’t really want it in the kitchen because of noise and cupboard space.

So our options are:

1. Kitchen
   
2. Keep it in the conservatory but build in some kind of laundry cupboard like in the picture. Eventually the conservatory will be replaced with an extension.
   
3. We have a pretty useless en suite in the eaves in the spare room. I’m considering replacing the bath (not enough head room for a shower) with a utility area but it feels a bit too weird!
   
   What would you do?

Can't possibly tell you without a floor plan!
I always thought it would be great to have a laundry room or cupboard on the first floor, if you can fit one in.
But it sounds as if your proposed location would be on the second floor (loft conversion) is that right??

Personally not one for baths so I'd take out bath (leaving toilet and basin?) and put in there.

As soon as I read the title I was thinking that you could put in a bathroom if there was space. I also don't mind the cupboard in the conservatory idea either.

Upstairs laundry rooms make more sense to me as that where dirty clothes are. However, I found out the hard way that they aren’t ideal on wooden floors so would only do it on concrete.
Alternatively, I’d put it somewhere in the middle of the ground floor not to block the garden and spoil a lovely extension at the back.

I never understand washing machines in the kitchen, and the conservatory is odd too, unless it's used as a utility room. I'm not tidy and wherever my machine is there's always clothes piled nearby. I'm not sure about replacing a bath with it though unless you never have guests stay, if you don't then that might work.
Ideally laundry should be on same floor as bedrooms, unless you love hanging your clothes out to dry. If you have no room on that floor and are going to rebuild the conservatory as an extension, could you make space for a utility room off the kitchen? If not I'd look where else you could put it, though where the plumbing exists is a factor.

I would use the spare room so long as it is only in occasional use.

I have a bathroom/laundry room/dressing room/wardrobe off my bedroom and it is excellent.

Things get washed, dried and hung up all within a few feet. I am totally lazy but this makes it all so easy. Just make sure that you get a dryer that is a recycling condenser - no steam and very little heat released into the room.

Unfortunately I don’t have a floor plan! I do have a very bad picture I have drawn though.

Overall length of the space excluding the conservatory is about 9m. Conservatory is 4x3.

The upstairs room is in a loft conversion yes. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs and 2 upstairs. We do have guests but not for very long and no one has ever used the bath in there, only the loo and sink. It feels like the tidiest solution but the floors are wooden so may be noisy. I’m assuming it would affect the resale too but that won’t be for years hopefully.

I would like to include a small utility in the extension ideally but that won’t be for 3-5 years realistically.
