Sick to death of nosy neighbour/Stalking behaviour

We live on a terraced street.
The yard/garden is open no fence.
The neighbour is a man opposite us who constantly stares into our house and when we go out in the yard/garden and has done for years now. We have tried to talk to him and be friendly but he makes odd comments towards us such as asking my partner if the post was 'porn' and asking me if I pole danced for a living! He has no mental health issues which we did wonder about. When we have had family visit over the years he has made them really uncomfortable with the staring. We feel like we have no privacy and he took it to a new level the other day when my partner noticed he had followed him to work! My partner confronted him about this and he said he was just seeing 'what he was up to'. I cannot put a fence or trellis up as the house is rented. We love our house and the area is fantastic for us and the rest of our neighbours are lovely. We really don't want to move but he's making our lives an absolute misery. Could we report him for some kind of stalking/harassment. I think the following is definitely stalking but the sitting and staring is that? As hes sat outside his house doing it.

Talk to your landlord. They may agree to put up some sort of screening

What a creep😖 Maybe if he follows any of you again you could try and get a recording of him following you. However, it's hard to collect evidence I feel like, he could always make an excuse that he was just looking out his window or just going in the same direction as you. Sorry I can't give much advice OP. Hopefully someone can, I hope this creep leaves you alone though.

Go to a garden centre and get lots of bamboo pots, the kind that will grow up to 6-7 feet quickly. That plus a privacy screen would give you a decent amount of privacy until you get a new place.

Yes I think I'll have to inform my landlord. I probably should of done so a long time ago but I have just put up with it thinking he's just a 'nosy neighbour' but it's to the extremes.

several washing lines.

When you do not have your sheets on them, you can use them for the "gazebo side panels" that you will find are widely sold during summer. They often have eyelets so you can thread the washing line along the top, and bunch them to the side like curtains when not needed. You can peg them down at the bottom if you want.

Places like Lidl, Aldi and Wilko sell them in barbie season and just before summr bank holidays.

I have some in dark green that blend tolerably with trees and bushes. Though I have no nosey neighbours and don't use them for screening.

He followed your husband to work. That's not right..I would report him to the police.

Your husband should be talking to the police about being followed.

My partner contacted the police and they just made a log of it and said they'd have a word with him but it hasn't happened yet. Will have to follow it up. He seems to know what we are doing when he isn't even home also as he has made comments about what time we have hung out washing or when we have had parcels delivered and who by which makes me think he's got a camera pointing at our house but we can't see it wherever it is and again it's not illegal to have a camera on your house looking at the street is it as its classed as security but it enables him to keep a further watch even when he isn't home.
