Moving and registering a Deed.

This is my first post so I hope this all makes sense.
We are in the final stages of moving, the house we are selling is part of a private road development and a new deed was written up due to a boundary dispute. Our buyers solicitors have now decided that they need this deed registered as a freehold title of the development before any exchange can take place. The deed needs to be registered with the land registry and obviously be processed. Does anyone have any idea how long this takes? We have had our mortgage application extended but I know our sellers are getting frustrated.

Hard to tell without knowing what sort of deed. If it's simply an agreement that needs noting on an already registered title then the turnaround is pretty quick so it would be looked at within a few days. It may be completed straightaway if it's in order (they often aren't). However, if notices needed to be served on other parties it could take 3 weeks or so.

If your buyer's solicitors are happy with the deed they may be willing to go ahead on the basis that the deed is signed, dated and the application has gone in - if it's being registered against another title, that's far more straightforward as the PP has said that creating a new title. The Land Registry has been taking ages to process applications although it does tend to put them into easy, medium and hard piles and picks off all the easy applications so if they put it in that pile it will be quicker. That sounds horribly vague but seems to be how they work!
