Works in building

Hi, the council have been making repairs in our building over the last couple in months, and it's been a big pain, but we've rolled with it. Next thing they told us is they will need to do major work in one of the walls in front of our flat, affecting the entrance to our flat and putting scaffolding etc. I am concerned for the noise, dust and security amongst other things.

The building is managed by the council but we're renting privately with a fixed term contract. Does anyone know our chances of getting out / cancelling the contract before it's end of term?

Thanks in advance

If the works are being undertaken with notice being given of them commencing, and are done during work hours (8-5ish for construction, mon-fri, 8-1 saturdays) then I very much doubt you would be able to get out of the contract.

Check whether you have a break clause in your contract.
