Kitchen Layout - help!!

Hello all

Could you please help with kitchen layout opinions. Our kitchen is in desperate need to renewal, at the moment we have a smallish kitchen and large utility! We ultimately want an extension but cannot afford one for a good number of years.

We have therefore been looking at knocking through into our utility room, and moving our washer & dryer upstairs into a quite large "airing" cupboard.

We have had the following plans drawn up, however my question is:

We are sacrificing storage space for a dining table. We have a separate dining room that we use approximately 4 times per year! I know that for buyers a kitchen diner is what is most appealing, but I'm seriously concerned about the lack of storage space especially with losing the utility room.

Would you sacrifice the table for larder units and utilise the island for casual eating and retain the dining table for when we have guests?

There is currently only me and DH and our furbaby (no kids)

ps apologies for the poor quality pictures, I had to sneakily take them as the kitchen place refuse to let you have a copy lol x

I was going to say you don't seem to have may cupboards but I think the dark things at the back are full height cupboards?

You could always put a side-board type item of furniture under the round window thing?

If you are having built in bench seating maybe have them as storage benches if you are worried about where you will put stuff?

Hi SilverSpot

Yes those are full length cupboards at the back.

With losing our utility I'm concerned that we don't have enough storage space. I'm tempted to lose the table and put larder style cupboards there and extend the island so its more of a sitting area. What do you think? As the majority of time it's just me & DH we probably wouldn't use the dining table much anyway.

Can you show what the floorplan is like (just a sketch with sizes maybe?)

At first glance, would you be better swapping the units and the dining area over so the table is in front of the patio doors? It looks from the picture like the wall with the table doesn't have anything else on it so you might get a better run of units that way?

Even more than lack of storage I'd be concerned about lack of worktop I think.

There are loads of apps to design your own kitchen

There appears to be loads of space in there already so you should be able to squeeze in some storage

Think about areas - cooking - washing- plateing - so you zone each part of the kitchen

The seating area is nice but only if you intend using it

Can you get us a decent floor plan
