OK, probably paranoia, but we've had an single storey rear extension recently built which has involved some hefty steel beams going in the back of the house. DCs bedroom above this has tiny hairline cracks across the side wall, that will likely be covered up with paint. And the doors have gone weird- our bedroom door facing to the back used to swing open fully if it was partially open, and now stays still, whereas the bathroom door facing front now swings open if it's not latched when it never used to?!

Building take time to settle. However, I'd probably get a surveyor out to investigate before it gets any worse.

Whenever you take out a wall and put in a beam there will be some movement, and likely cracking in the walls above. But the movement should be fairly instantaneous. So keep an eye on it and if it seems like things are getting worse then you'll need to make sure there aren't issues with foundations etc.

Single story extension here, our bathroom is above where the steel has gone in & our bathroom door is now sticking!

Only by a mm or so but DS had to rescue me & DH on 2 separate occasions yesterday!
Am thinking it's quite normal! Well hoping!

Yes it will move - we're holding out on all decoration in our house until the extension has been done in case it all gets ruined!
