There was an example last year of a micro house that someone had converted from an apple store or something. It turned out that it was in the PIL's backyard, so the family were able to constantly run in and out of their house anyway.

Interesting as an architectural project, but not as a model for family life.

In the first episode, there was a family who had overpaid their mortage by scrimping and saving and became mortgage free a lot earlier than if they'd paid just the required amount.

This is a more practical approach for most people, but you couldn't make a whole series out of "we shopped at cheaper places and put the money into the mortgage instead".

Property programmes do well for Channel 4 and they have made an effort in recent years to extend their offerings in this area. Some are successful, some not so much.

I think Sarah Beenie is pretty good as a presenter and she has a lot of pre-TV experience of being a property developer. Her best show, I reckon, is Double Your House for Half the Money which you can still watch on All4 (C4's on demand service). Lots of tips and ideas for people doing home improvements.

Another top tip was to already own an expensive house in a popular owner and then to sell it and downsize just using the equity you've already made! no shit Sherlock!

Sick of these property programmes and the patronising money saving ones too! Overpay your mortgage by shopping at Lidl and save a few bob-why didn't I think of that?!! Switch your utility providers!!!!! What planet are these people on- talk about stating the bleeding obvious!
