I'm currently painting my study this colour. Still need a second (and maybe a third) coat, but it's looking quite white at the moment. Will report back when I'm finished.

Think it's supposed to have a slight hint of grey

Interested in opinions/photos as I'd been planning on doing my living/dining room White Mist, but I painted it on a piece of paper yesterday to test and to my eyes it's basically white. Definitely not cream, not brilliant white, but not really grey.

I'm puzzled because I was told it was used in a beautiful house we stayed in in Cornwall last year - www.cornishhorizons.co.uk/north-coast-cottages/padstow-town/p00144-15-netherton-road

Downstairs is meant to be White Mist, but it looks (and looked when we were there) far more grey than the tester I have.

All paint colours darken with time. Always use at least two coats to see the colour in a tester pot. The final 'look' also depends on how much natural or artificial light you have in the room that you use the colour. Some artificial lights are yellow and others are very blue so they alter your perception of what's on the walls.

Thanks blankmind, that's helpful - I'll add another coat to the paper. I did move it around the house yesterday and it looked very different in different lights (as I expected), but never as properly grey as I was expecting.

My bedroom is white mist - in the light we have it shows as almost blue/lilac. White Cotton is white without colour or glare - we have it in our kitchen. It is 'warmer' than White Mist, which I think is quite cold (but fresh - I do like it in the bedroom).

NB No hint of cream at all in either Mist or Cotton!

I'd say it's quite a chilly white, but definitely a white rather than a grey. We've used it in a couple of rooms, it's better with some sunshine.

Yup, that colour in the photo is how it looks from my sample pot. Definitely more white than grey. It's meant to be going in a north/south through living/dining room, so the colour will be chilly in the north-facing living room. I wonder if they changed the colour since the house I stayed in was decorated?

Sigh - back to the drawing board for a proper pale grey!

What about F&B ammonite or dulux heritage range in turtledove grey? I'm desperately trying to find something similar and I think dh is getting a bit fed up with all the tester pots!

On another thread a lot of people have recommended Dulux 'Timeless' as a greyish white. Not used it myself tho.

Timeless is definitely not grey it is a soft white similar to F&B Wimborne white

Used it lots in my previous house. It's definitely a grey white!

Timeless is clearly odd. I got a sample pot because of all the recommendations on here. It is definitely creamier than brilliant white and White Cotton (which I ended up using; has a tinge of green to it). Dulux list it under cream on their website, not under white or grey.

Timeless is warmer than White Mist. But quite neutral. Maybe it's a tint of griege/mushroom, but not yellowy. Painted 3 coats of it last weekend so it's fresh in my mind (and on my hair...)

Dulux polished pebble is a lovely soft pale grey.

sorry, that was to VickyCherry

Thanks SealSong, that does look like a lovely colour.

I've tested Timeless before - it's definitely creamy. Not magnolia, but warm rather than cool-toned.

Just checking in to say I haven't forgotten about the picture request Smile painting is moving a lot slower than I would like because of the school hols, DD wants to help but gets in the way instead. I sent her out with DH for the day today and almost finished but it definitely needs a third coat (previous colour was pale blue, similar to Dulux First Dawn). It is looking very white though, I can't see any greys.

Vickie, my bathroom is a pale grey, I think it's Dulux pebble shore but I will have a look in a minute and confirm.

It is pebble shore, it looks greyer on the wall than on the picture on the tin, which looks sandy. It was painted over white. I think I have a picture of my testers somewhere, will try to find it.
