We had an old boiler removed but they left the live electrical cables (long, boring story).
We now basically have the live electrical wire sitting under floorboards. It's been taped up and made safe with a marking on it saying 'Live'. Just in case.
The problem we have is without lifting carpets and floorboards etc we cannot trace it back to the consumer unit. Is there a device that we could put on the disconnected end (as that's easy to get to) that effectively makes a tone, or lights up or something so we can tell where it enters the consumer unit and disconnect it? I know there is a similar device called a toner that works on phone lines, but does anyone know of one that works on electrical wires?
Thanks
