Herringbone parquet flooring - anyone installed it?

Needs to be engineered oak or suitable to go over underfloor heating - not averse to karndean etc either. I'm a bit overwhelmed at the choice on t'internet, not sure where to start.

Thanks.

This is no help as I've not done it, but I love the look!

Yes I have some throughout my ground floor. It's lovely! Got mine from a local firm but the one I bought is widely available online Google 80 x 350 x 18 mm lacquered engineered herringbone oak and it comes up in 10 or so stores (pack size is 1.68m2).

There is no brand name as lots of stores seem to sell the same one. We ran out and had to source more so I ended up phoning many of them. Most said back in stock mid Feb. This is not the place I ordered from but is the same floor. //www.luxuryflooringandfurnishings.co.uk/80mm-pearl-satin-lacquered-herringbone-engineered-oak-wood-flooring-18-4mm-thick.html

Our builder's team did it. So just his general chippy. It's lovely, Everytime I look at it I feel happy!

The one I linked is 39 per sq m. And you have to add more wastage than normal as it can require more cuts and it's harder to use the cut pieces up than with normal straight boards.

What are your thoughts on Chevron? This is what we decided on after months of research on Herringbone flooring. Not quite at the stage of installing yet however as its in planks its very straight forward to lay (and considerably cheaper) than parquet blocks

I like chevron but prefer herringbone. Damn my expensive tastes Wink Grin

I like both. I think Chevron pulls your eye down the centre line whereas herringbone has less of a direction /focal point. So depends on the room maybe?

I actually really like chevron. I do think with both chevron and herringbone the bigger the space the nicer it looks. Slightly wasted on a small sitting room where it will be covered with sofa and coffee table and TC bench.

look at how nice some of these chevron floors are

Absolutely love herringbone, the following is my dream:

If it wasn't for kids we would have gone with this in our renovation/extension work we are currently doing but have opted for Amtico instead. With regret.

Try them they have really great collection of parquet, also great prices. We have ordered solid oak parquet flooring for supply and installation. The only thing is the lead-time of up t 4 weeks. Worth waiting.
