A water filter in ththe bathroom anyone?

We ve decided to install one prior to a new bathroom installation. We're in London and the water is terrible here causing a dry and itchy skin after each shower not to mention a bath. Is it worth to install a shower filter? are there any other more effective options available? HELP!!
