Having new kitchen-diner
Want to minimise cost so avoid granite/corian
Def don't want wood
It's between laminate and something called Maia which is acrylic and can be cut to a curve (stocked at JL)
Any experiences/other suggestions?

I looked at maia and for a quote for it. But as you say it is only from John Lewis and I got white Corian from a kitchen shop for the same price!

I would buy directly from a worktops supplier. Much more cost effective.

Our local builders merchants sell Maia. Plus I think they have a no name equivalent in a limited number of colours.

We are going to look into granite/quartz overlays, like the ones you can put on existing worktops. When we get that far next year.....
