Good price for a plasterer?

We need a room skimming (walls) and boarding over the lath & plaster ceiling then skimming that too. It's about 3.5m square. I have no idea what a good price is! We've been quoted £615. Does anyone know if that sounds about right?! Finding a plasterer round here is very difficult and I'll have gone grey by the time I get three quotes! We're in the north west.

Sounds awfully steep to me. I had my whole hallway/stairs/landing (including ceiling) done for £200 - took the plasterer and his helper 1 full day and it was a flawless finish. Definitely get more quotes.

I was in the South East then (last year) but can't see why that would account for an extra £400!

The overboarding, because it is L&P, will put the price up. Otherwise it should be in the region of 2 or 3 hundred per ceiling.

Cornices and coving cost extra.

I didn't include the walls. Another 200 maybe.

How many walls are being boarded? That will bump the price up.

I have a city and guilds in plastering and don't think that sounds too bad TBH.

NW too - paid 500 for skimming walls and ceiling (no boarding over) slightly bigger room. Would say its not over the top.

Thanks. One ceiling, four walls - one has a fireplace, one has a big window, one an internal door and one a patio door and two windows. So presumably lots of fiddly bits..? We also have rounded edges where the walls meet the ceiling, and picture rails!

Our plasterer charges £350 per day. He is in constant demand, so I guess his rate is reasonable (expensive area of SE).

Bookmarking as we have a kitchen that may need re-plastering after we rip all the tiles off. I had no idea it could cost as much as the above.

Just paid £1500 for skimming 3 double rooms (wall and ceiling) in South London.

Dh normally charges £100 a surface..so he'd probably charge £500 for a basic room. I think that's reasonable.
