Can anyone please give me some advice? Does a gas supply need an outlet flue? Or a gas hob? Or is this only required for a gas boiler?
To give more info, the housing developer who is building the flat that my mother is buying has recently revealed (months after exchange of contracts) that the flat is electric only with no gas supply and we want a gas hob.
We had been made aware that the boiler would be electric since the distance from the boiler to an outside wall would make the outlet flue too long (fine) but not that there would be no gas at all - there is gas to the other flats in the block, which have gas boilers. I have complained that they did not make us aware of the lack of gas supply during the sales process (it only came up after they'd allowed us to select a gas hob for the kitchen) and asked that a gas supply be put in. They have said they can't, it's impossible due to flue length. I'm trying to establish whether it's really impossible or if they mean they can't put in a gas boiler therefore they don't want to - as usual communicating with them is slow and incoherent. I've also been trying to get a quote for putting in gas retrospectively but that's taking some time and because it will be more difficult once the other flats have completed as the supply would have to cross other people's property, I'd rather resolve it now.
Thanks in advance for any useful information anyone has.
