Accoya front doors?

Does anyone have any experience of front doors made with Accoya wood? The quote we have is similar to a Rock Door (which would be the alternative). I prefer the look of the wooden door but am unsure about maintenance etc. I have been assured (by the carpenter!) that they are long-lasting and don't require a lot of upkeep but would really like to hear from someone who actually has one.

is it solid or veneered?

Are you going to varnish/stain it?

Is it exposed to the weather or protected by (at least) an open porch?

ooops, it is a sort of synthetically modified wood, so I suppose it is bound to be solid.

Have never used one. The treatment is said by the manufacturers to make it durable and rot-resistant.

I do prefer wooden doors to plastic or composite, and you can (normally will) fit a BS3621 lock, which is particularly secure.

It is protected by a porch and comes sprayed with 3 coats of paint. It is supposed to be very durable.

I don't have experience of them, but from what you say it sounds good. A porch increases the life of wooden doors and their decorative finish by protecting them from the weather. If it is trimmed or planed during fitting, treat the cut edges again, especially the top and bottom which are often neglected.
