Least favourite renovation job

We are in the process of doing up our house which we bought in November.

So far we have removed and replaced some damaged lath and plaster walls and ceilings, moved the bathroom, rewired, plastered and currently we are sanding the floors.

I've disliked all the jobs at some point but my least favourite is floor sanding. I had visions of the sander just gliding over the floor bringing the boards up beautifully.

The reality is very different! It took me about 6 hrs to sand 1 room yesterday.

My favourite jobs are the ones we paid someone to do!

What is/was your least favourite DIY/renovation job?

I really dislike sanding generally - it's a nails down chalkboard feeling with added mess. Removing polystyrene tiles from ceilings was pretty horrible, not so much the tiles themselves but softening and removing the adhesive underneath. I also get incredibly grumpy plastering.

I like stripping wallpaper though.

Plastering. The dust gets everywhere and it takes forever to settle (and it kills laptop fans if you aren't careful...

Removing anything stuck down to ceilings walls or floors!

Rewiring. Pulling what feels like miles of cable for it only to be half an inch or something.

I find painting really dull as well, but am too tight to pay somebody.

I love anything involving woodwork, and the smug satisfaction of doing it yourself is pretty awesome.

Prep work! I hate the sugar soaping, sanding and undercoating. Also sanding and filling walls and removing painted wallpaper...

Anything where the end result isn't aesthetic Angry. All the work for nothing pretty at the end.
