Loft conversion- party wall agreement

House next to us has changed hands recently and new owner is doing loads of work. They mentioned a loft conversion and I was expecting to receive paperwork relating to the party wall. I've just noticed that they've started on the loft conversion already. We're a terrace and the but they're building is immediately next to us and goes against the edge of our wall and chimney. Should I have received notification of this and had the chance to appoint a surveyor?

Only if they are cutting in to the party wall to put steels in or taking down the chimmney which is attached to your chimmney or party wall. We didn't need a party wall agreement for our loft conversion as confirmed by our neighbours party wall surveyor.

So they may not need one but j would discuss with them what they are planning to do.

Ah ok. Thanks. The builders don't speak English but I'll try and get hold of the owner and talk to him.
