Converting conservatory into a bedroom

My DD currently has a very small box room, she is getting older and needs more room for her stuff. (She has a bed and small wardrobe and that takes up most of her room) The only way we can think of achieving this is having our smallish conservatory converted into a bedroom.

Has anyone else done this?

You will struggle with condensation, ventilation, extremes of heat and cold, light, noise (e.g when it rains!) Unless you can find ways of addressing these it will not be habitable IMO.

Aside from the issues raised above, which are huge, I can't see how it would work aesthetically either- assuming the roof and 3 walls are glass and the connecting doors to the house have glass in them it isn't going to be very private- or it will resemble a circus tent inside with all the curtains needed!

Wouldn't you be better getting her one of those bunks with wardrobe underneath? They're a fab solution for small space.

I think a conservatory works well as an occasional room, dining room, playroom (more for storage), extra reception space... But with the extreme heat & cold and lack of privacy I don't think they're suited to being a bedroom.

How old is your DD? are we talking toddler or teen? does she need space for homework or toys?

I'd be inclined to make her room as uncluttered and sleek as possible and keep it as a room just for her clothes and sleeping. Build in as much storage as you possibly can as in the cabin bed type of thing suggested.

Then give her a chest or cupboard to call her own in the conservatory to house her other stuff.
