Aluminium windows advice please!

We are having a single story kitchen/diner extension. Bifold doors, roof lantern, lots of windows. The rest of the house has brown upvc windows. They're not too offensive but would it look odd to have a different colour of aluminium window just throughout the extension? We can't afford to replace all the windows in the house so the brown windows are staying.

If so, what colour would work? Most people seem to go for grey aluminium windows but I think that would look awful against the brown. I was thinking of a pale green but don't know if it will be a bit too unusual.

Our other option is white upvc windows inside and a brown colour outside (except for the bifolds) so at least the extension would match with the rest of the house.

Would appreciate opinions as am struggling to decide!

I like brown outside and white inside.

Aluminium sections are much slimmer than plastic.

Thanks, do you mean brown aluminium outside? Lots of people don't like upvc but what's actually wrong with them? I need to know as going to need to persuade DH that we don't want them!

Plastic is a weak material lacking strength and rigidity, hence it has to be in large sections, and festooned with complex locking mechanisms to keep it shut. If you so desire, you can cut through it with a bread-knife.

Some people (including me) find it visually repellent.

Even dark brown wood effect upvc? I agree with you but only visually re white upvc windows. Our brown windows look pretty good and solid and not obviously fake until you look closer. Although I can't say I like the colour so I think for me it's the brown I have an issue with rather than the material. Which means I still have a problem with the outside extension colour! How about white inside and this outside....would go reasonably well with dark brown windows on the rest of the house?
