Does anyone have an easy idea I could check or is this a job for an electrician ?
I have plugged it into a different working plug socket but still didn't come to life and I've emptied it but it is starting to smell Grin

Thanks so much if any brainwaves out there

Have you tried changing the fuse in the plug?

Ah no- I did wonder but have the most basic knowledge. Thank you. I'll arm myself with a new fuse and you tube tutorial to try that and see. Thanks

Alas a new fuse didn't help so maybe something else. I can't see anything obvious as the power cable looks solid and well attached!

Is it a factory fitted plug that you can't open up with a screwdriver? If so, worth getting someone who knows how to wire a plug to cut that one off and fit a new plug in case there is a wire loose from one of the terminals inside. If you still get no joy then either an appliance engineer or a new machine.

Thanks, it wasn't the plug and an electrician came and checked everything but still couldn't fix it. Annoying waste of money though at least we know - and thanks for your help as glad I at least tried

You're welcome - time for a new dishwasher then?

Well I think just lots of washing by hand actually sadly! Oh well.

Gawd. I would make sacrifices for a replacement dishwasher!

The dishwasher will be flooded underneath. There is a float switch underneath inside the casing and if it overflows the bottom of the casing fills up and the float switch cuts the power. It stops the dishwasher flooding your kitchen.

You need to pull the dishwasher out and get behind it and look underneath and get the water out that will be lurking there. This happened to ours.

You may need a dishwasher repair engineer not an electrician.

abetadad thank goodness I just looked at this- you are so kind as it is annoying me still and the water that won't drain now stinks ! I shall renew efforts with this info

I have emptied it by hand as far as can and under the filter but can't get the waste hose off easily. It half unclips on the outside but then carries on into the machine.
