Chalk Paint or not ?

Some advise please. I am hoping to win this headboard on Ebay and want to give it a makeover for my daughters bedroom. I want to paint it white and maybe the ball bits in silver (she want's a princess bed). She currently has Ikea Hemnes Furniture so want it to have the same sort of silky matt finish.
I have found a can of Cupboard paint in the garage that would fit the bill but I am worried about the prep work. Would Annie Sloan be better and would it give the right finish ?.

Chalk Paint or not ?

I am a fan of chalk paint but not sure it will give the right finish. I would just lightly sand it the use the cupboard paint. Or if you want slap on a quick coat of primer after sanding.

Thanks, I was afraid that Annie Sloan might be a bit too rustic Sad

You can get a nice matt finish with chalk paint if you use a roller rather than a brush.

I can't see your pic as I'm using the app though.

I have used chalk paint but i am not keen on rustic / shabby look, i used varnish instead of wax as the last coat and sealer. That would give you the matt or whatever finish you require. It will also protect headboard.
