I love this shed and it would suit our small garden but it is very expensive. Has anyone seen anything similar but cheaper? Would a carpenter be able to do something similar for less, do you think?

It's a bit bigger but has the same functionality with the added bonus that it's a proper shed so you can walk in as easily as your kids.

www.tigersheds.com/wooden-playhouses/ Some of these are a similar size to the playhouse of your original link but I can't find a regular shed that you could bolt on the back iykwim.

Ooh, I like that - good find! I need to measure up and see if we have enough space but this will definitely be more attractive to my DH who has baulked at the price of the first one.

I opened this up because we're looking for a den with wood storage underneath, and actually are most likely to get one built to spec for only a bit more than that second one so that might be another way.

That's really interesting!

Dumb question but who do I need to get quotes from? I'm guessing a carpenter?

Whereabouts are you? We googled treehouse and found someone who builds these kind of things in the next town.

Sussex. I don't suppose your chap is anywhere near there.

No, we're in Somerset, but these people look very much as if they do the same sort of thing.

You are good!

If you can run electricity out to it you could turn it into a proper kids den/home office in a few years too.

Good plan as we will be digging up the garden so should run cabling out at the same time.

We are getting a much smaller version of this...

That looks amazing would give me a heart attack though

That looks amazing. Your kids are lucky and obviously more sure-footed than mine grin.

getinthesea Tue 16-Jun-15 14:24:50

Ha! Far from it, it's not having the rope because - we can't fight this - it's going to be a reading den...

Ah, how lovely. I was a proper bookworm when I was little and would have loved something like this.
