Firepit - worth having?

Am considering a firepit and quite like the look of the Dancook 9000, although is a bit pricey.

Are they worth having or are they just a fad that I will soon tire of!

Looks nice but very pricey, we have a burning bin that we light during BBQs etc, you get the warmth and burn your junk mail at the same time!

We have a Kadai fire bowl - it looks great the more you use it - no winery's about keeping it looking new ! Love love love it !! Totally recommend it ! We have U shaped seating area in our garden and it sits in the centre and keeps us all warm !

We have the Dancook 9000 and think it's great. It was the only one on the market that was both a BBQ and fire pit when we bought it a few years ago.

It's great to BBQ on, nice and big, and when the BBQ is over we pile it with wood and sit round it as it gets chilly. The rim of the pit doesn't get hot do no scolding knees when you are relaxing. Perfect height for marshmallows!

Negatives - it's perfect toddler / pet height so if you have either then constant supervision, but that's the same as any BBQ. The height might also be an issue if you have back pain and are bending over to cook. The heat when we use it as a fire pit can be wasted and I've seen fire pits with lids that push the heat to the side. They don't BBQ though.

All that said, it works really well for us and has seen many good nights with friends.

Finally, if you do buy it, I'd recommend buying the spark guard too.

We love our fire pit. Really useful for UK summer entertaining, means parties can go on and everyone huddles round warm & looking at the fire. Ours is a Kadai one, I got from toast. We don't use it until after LO are in bed.

Thanks for the feedback. We do already have a BBQ but liked the idea of something to sit by to keep warm. Our garden is modern so the Kadai one, as lovely as it is, probably wouldn't be in keeping with the rest of the garden.

Can anyone recommend any firepits less £££ than the Dancook?

My woodburner was made by this person: www.windysmithy.co.uk/fire-saucers .
They are really good quality, although I didn't like him much when I went to collect.
