Patio paving - help!

I am looking for paving for a tiny garden maybe 20sq metres. I need it to be easy to clean (sweeping regularly & pressure washing occasionally) & not slippy smooth. Also looking for bluey grey colours, not yellow/red shades.

I've been to a few builders yards & larger garden centres but am confused

Have you looked at any reclamation yards?
Sometimes they have some lovely slabs for a great price, especially if you don't want loads.

We are looking at this too, we have narrowed it down to slate or indian sandstone.

The garden centre put me off slate by saying it was slippy in the wet.

Really Gozo? Did they suggest anything that has the same look but not slippery?

I slightly lost the will to live as he went off on one about how to maintain decking after I had twice told him that I was definitely removing it...he was very clear that they only way to stop algae & moss build up was to brush regularly, whilst admitting that he never got round to it & that was the main reason for icing up over winter. So I guess slate is fine if you can brush & don't have standing water build up

A riven slate is fine. You don't want honed. Look at Mandarin Stone for ideas. Reclaimed can be expensive to lay if it has different depths and sizes. York stone is great, but it can be very variable in depth for each slab. Much cheaper is gravel!

I have got real problems with my Indian sandstone. In places it has gone black and there are lots of black spots on it. I think it is too porous because my york stone has fared much better and is still perfect after many years. Personally, I would not buy Indian sandstone again. We just cannot clean ours. It was a false economy.
