Is this where pigletjohn hangs out? Can I use sink unblocker in a washing machine drain hose?

Machine won't drain.

Tried everything else and hose is definitely blocked, cannot get it clear. Can I out sink stuff down the end that should be attached to sink, ie farthest from machine, or will it get into the machine and wreck it?

First, a penny.

Thought we'd cracked it.

No.

Then black stuff - something's been in it that shouldn't, last lot of clothes have black marks and we scooped undefinable black stuff out.

No change.

DH has just done that siphoning thing with his mouth and we are washing empty with vinegar now.

Any advice? And thank you so much for replying to someone you don't even know.

I don't think you should use sink unblocker. You can use washing soda crystals if you want. There is no reason for a washer hose to get clogged with fat.

Lie the hose flat on the floor when there is water in the machine. Does it run out?

The hose can be removed from the pump if necessary, it is a replaceable part.

It's jus stopped again.

No Thr water doesn't run out. There's an attempt at a gurgle and a slight trickle of foul smelling water.

I think its the black stuff, whatever it was, that's bunged it up.

It doesn't look like our hose does detach - do we maybe need to take the back cover off to do it?

you probably get at it from underneath. Lie it on its back. Don't turn it upside down.

If the black stuff is grease, it might be from the drum bearings breaking up, which is beyond economic repair. There might also be fragments of metal shavings. I suppose you could try poking down the hose with a straightened wire coathanger. Bend the end into a loop so it won't puncture the hose. Take the filter off again first, and clean out all you can see or reach.

A small white bottle top eventually came out, followed by a lot of gunk.

Trying running it through again.
