Any experience of Quick-Step Impressive Ultra?

Hi there,

I need replace the flooring in my open plan living room (kitchen, dining and living room). My DS prefers engineered wood but I am wondering if laminate would be more practical because we have two young children. I have been looking at the Quick-Step Impressive Ultra range as it claims to be waterproof, dirt and dust repellent as well as scratch-resistant.

Does anyone have any experience of this product?

I'm also looking at this. It seems to gave a nicer feel than the other laminates. Apart from the thickness of the planks I'm trying work out the difference between the impressive and the impressive ultra range. I too would be interested in anyone's experience?

From what I understand the impressive ultra range has a waterproof coating whereas the impressive range does not.

Did any of you fit quickstep impressive. I'm looking at the White planks for open plan kitchen dining area keeping the carpet living room end. Have quickstep on ground floor fitted prior to me buying the house and pleased with it.

Beckyt80 - what I said was not correct. The Impressive and Impressive Ultra both have the waterproof coating. The difference between the two is that the Impressive is 8mm thick whereas the Impressive Ultra is 12mm thick. I went to the Ideal Homeshow and Quickstep had a stand there so I was able to ask the difference between the two.

Teaandcake7 - not yet. I am still looking for a builder for the house renovation. Trying to decide whether to have the builder fit the Quickstep or have a Quickstep trained fitter do it. What are you going to do?

I have had the quickstep impressive classic oak fitted. It seems nice but can't really comment on durability after 2 weeks. One good thing is it is not slippery at all. I don't know whether we had a bad selection of packs but the variation of planks is not very high.

So far so good with our quickstep impressive. I think definitely the Matt texture makes it feel nice and not too laminatey! I think it looks quite similar to some of the engineered woods I looked at. Everything has wiped off and no scratches yet!

I've always been a big fan of Quickstep and have Perspective in hallway, lounge and dining room downstairs which I love. Decided to go for a white floor in the spare bedroom and chose the Impressive White and regretted it since! It marks very easy and dark clothing stains it too, meaning we have to go barefoot in that room and can't even sit on the floor! It constantly looks dirty. Cleaning takes a lot of effort too. So I definitely wouldn't recommend the white!

My advice, avoid this flooring because it will not live up to its advertising claims, and if you have children running around definitely a ‘NO-NO'!

My house was gutted and refurbished last summer. I spent 2 months unsuccessfully looking for the washed out white colour I wanted in hardwood, then my builder suggested Quick-step. Because I'd had laminate flooring in my previous home, perfect for 15yrs until the day I moved out in 2009, I decided laminate was probably longer wearing than hardwood (duh!), and floored throughout with Quick-step (incl stairs).

I should have realised that the fact they were selling repair kits indicated an inherent problem with this flooring, but the 25yrs warranty reassured me, which I have since discovered is virtually worthless!

Bearing in mind that no-one was actually living in the house at the time, 5 months ago (Sept) a small chip appeared near an empty bedroom doorway. My husband wrote to Unilin who diagnosed via a photograph that something heavy had obviously been dropped on the floor - nothing had been dropped! To save argument my husband agreed to accept a free repair kit (not as easy to use as the video claims!).

For reasons I won't go into, the house is still virtually empty and hardly lived in since completion of the refurb last year. But a few days ago I was cleaning throughout and discovered three new ‘chips’ in places where it’s not possible anything has been dropped to cause this. The laminate appears to have simply flaked off and left erosions beneath.

The floor has been cleaned according to the company's instructions, using their (expensive) products, it is shoe free and nothing has been dropped on it - in fact I’m now terrified of dropping anything for fear of what would then happen!

NB: I have since googled a number of similar bad reviews - and worse :(

It’s approx only 8 months since the floor was laid, there have been very few visitors (shoeless) so I dread to think what would happen if I had a party with guests wearing shoes, who - heaven forbid - might even drop something!

I advise anyone who has fitted Quick-step flooring to video it in case of future problems!

What really upsets me is that I’ve learned too late that I could have had a hardwood floor sanded and painted to my colour preference, and resanded if needed in the future, whereas now I’m looking at years of continual repair to the Quick-step floor, or alternatively replacing it at enormous cost!

I have this morning written to Unilin advising that this flooring is not fit for purpose according to the Sale of Goods Act and I will let you know what their response is.

I want to share some choices about our flooring. Choosing is a difficult thing for people, so I want to share my experience and the criteria we have chosen, and I hope to help everyone, especially those who are equally confused.

For me, I really like solid wood flooring, but solid wood flooring has a lot of problems like maintenance, which is very troublesome. What I want more is the kind of engineered floor, which is easy to clean and waterproof and non-slip. I want to lay the floor in every part of the house, including the kitchen and bathroom, so it will be convenient to clean, so the floor needs to be waterproof and non-slip, which can increase the convenience and reduce the maintenance cost, including Loss caused by accidents such as wear and water leakage caused by machine failure.

Regarding the material of the floor, whether to use high-quality vinyl sheets or high-quality laminates is also an important issue. In fact, you can compare two materials in several ways.

First of all, from the appearance, the floor of the two materials is almost no big difference, including the design of the color and the floor approaching the real solid wood floor. The second two materials are all easy to clean materials. There is no big difference in price. From this perspective, there is not much difference between the two.

From a waterproof point of view, the laminate is made of HFD or high-density fiberboard, that is, recycled hardwood, which is generally more resistant to abrasion but not waterproof. However, vinyl itself is a flexible waterproof material, so the vinyl plate is more waterproof. Our choice of Quick-Step's Impressive Ultra and its latest Majestic, this new generation of high-quality laminate flooring has a waterproof surface that is more suitable for use in bathrooms where waterproofing is required.

From the point of view of the touch, it is difficult for the laminate to move around and it will make a sound. If a suitable carpet is on it, it may feel quieter and more comfortable.

Impressive Ultra floors are extra durable and have a superior authentic colour, design and structure – including a super realistic bevel that mimics a genuine timber floor finish.

Aesthetics, quality and brand confidence are decisive factors in many choices. My work will be with many suppliers of major flooring brands, and I am very impressed with Quick-Step's innovation because I can always hear relevant news. I like the samples I saw in the showroom, and the brand has a 25-year history and is very reassuring. People don't always stay in one place, but when they live here, the floor for this time can be covered with such a quality floor, and it is guaranteed to be waterproof for 10 years. Time is very happy.

I borrowed a lot of samples from the showroom to see what kind of scenes I actually had at home. This is a good way. After all, under the natural light of the house, and the placement of items in the house, the floor looks different. of. Let me make up my mind to choose the classic oak beige Impressive Ultra because at the end of the day, its appearance is exactly what I imagined. This is a decision that I will not regret.

I think the floor is a worthwhile area and a place we can afford. Because laying the floor is a very cumbersome thing, you have to move everything and there will be big changes. This is an investment, no one wants to constantly change the floor to wear clothes, after all, the floor is worn.

We want more natural light to illuminate the home, but there is no suitable place. We also considered Quick-Step's Majestic products, the same waterproof effect and amazing design. However, the size does not match the conditions at home. There are also DIY systems available for customers to choose from, but we are not very convenient, because our house's own underlying conditions require more operations. We consulted Floating Floors Direct in Hornsby. Owner Bill Grogan was also great for expert advice, with many years’ experience. He believes that our situation is not suitable for Majestic.

Looking at these pictures, the floor and the kitchen have been completely changed, and months have passed, even though the trike-riding is here, the floor is still the same as the new one. I have to say that we made a good decision at the time.
