Do you have blinds on your lounge window? If so what are they like?

We have a bay window that currently has Venetian blinds on it, inherited from previous owner - I hate them, mainly because they're so hard to clean!

Any alternative suggestions? I feel like it needs something other than just curtains.

When we moved in our living room had roman blinds, curtains & a pelmet. It looked nice & well co-ordinated but we've changed to a pole & curtains after decorating as I prefer a simpler look.
We are well set back from the road (30m) so privacy isn't a issue.
We've got just roman blinds in the dining room as the window shape is awkward for curtains.

Venetian blinds here, red ones, look fine! Not too bad to clean really but apparently wooden ones gather less dust. Useful security feature too.

What about shutters, they seem to be very popular here at the moment and look lovely IMO and can be very versatile in terms of colour, style etc.

They're on my wish list for the next couple of years.

Roman blinds and full length curtains over 10 ft of patio doors and windows.
We have three windows plus the door combo so went for something simple.

I think shutters look fabulous and you can still have curtains to pull in winter for the extra warmth. Depending on your location the shutters don't have to be full window height so you can still get lots of light coming in over the top half but keep privacy below.
