Kitchens. Again!

So we've just bought a new house and need to fit a new kitchen. We have had an Ikea kitchen in the past and while we were happy enough with it, it was a short term-ish kitchen.

So now i'm wondering, do we go for Ikea again (because in reality the kitchens aren't bad), do we go for someome like Howdens or Wickes (how good are they really?), or do we go for an independant? If it's the latter does anyone have any recommendations in the Hertfordshire area?

Also if you wouldn't mind stating the cost of your kitchen and what that included, as cost will also obviously be a major factor in our decision making process.

Thanks

I used diy kitchens, same quality as Wickes maybe even same supplier but lots cheaper. The units come ready assembled unlike Wickes and my builder said they were a dream to install. Howdens I was very disappointed with their customer service.
The actual units cost me circa £2000 but I had top of the range appliances and maia worktops so I ended up spending 9k in all. I think there is still a couple of pics on my profile if you want a nosey

my best advice is to shop around with one design, so you can see who will offer the best deal, as it's the only way to truly compare like for like.

I would fit the best you can afford if you plan to stay in the house. If it is a really nice house then a lovely kitchen will be a pleasure to work in. Do not overspend, however, if the house is modestly priced because you will never recoup the cost.
