How to arrange tiles in bathroom

We are currently having our bathroom completely redone at the moment, and we have bought tiles for the walls. They are kind of slate looking, and we have bought half grey and half white. We also have some mosiac tiles which we will have in a horizontal line around the walls. It was my intention to have the grey tiles below the mosaic strip, and the white tiles above. However, the guy who is fitting the bathroom has said he doesn't think that would look good and he would have a section grey and a section white.

What do you think we should do? It's so hard to visualise what it will look like finished!

Thanks!

By a section white and a section grey does that mean a few whole walls white and the other walls grey?

Personally I think the way you wanted it would look better. But maybe he's saying that because of how your bathroom is laid out, it would look quite even? It wouldn't really work in mine as there are two parallel walls one has the bath on it, the other on the opposite side has the toilet and half of a shower cubicle so they are quite big expanses of wall. The other two parallel walls; one has the other half of the shower and the door, the other wall has a window and the sink so they haven't got a lot of wall. So if I had different coloured tiles there would be one dominant colour iyswim.

But whatever the reason I think you need to go with what you think, you don't want to go with someone else's idea and then not like it. At least if it was your own idea and you didn't like it you'd only have your self to blame Grin

The guy who did our bathroom was very Hmm about the arrangement of tiles that I'd specified, but I stuck with it and it looks lovely. He had to admit it looked good once he'd finished!

Stick with your plan Smile

I'm going to disagree and say go with the sections / blocks . - less fussy looking. But , I agree with verystressed - go with what you like .

8 years ago my builder tiled our bathroom with big white metro tiles in the irregular pattern (whatever it's called). He & his assistant were very Hmm and kept saying "it looks like a men's urinal". He persisted and was happy with the result.

Roll on to my new building work and he's "we'll do the same as last time it's very fashionable".

Have what you like.
