Moth infestation - anyone successfully claimed?

Unlikely perhaps but I wonder if anyone has managed to claim for damage caused by these pests? My insurance policy excludes damage by insects and vermin but I wonder if this is watertight?

If it states clearly that damage by insects is not covered then your chances of having a claim accepted are zero. It's not an unreasonable condition to apply to the policy so there's no chance of getting anywhere with a complaint to the ombudsman.

That's what I thought. Annoying though as we took reasonable steps against infestation but the critters are determined.

if you have ever seen a moth infestation, you will take it very seriously, Frogman. Certainly hundreds of pounds worth, al your best suits and jackets will be ruined, as well as socks, scarves and hats. Unless dealt with firmly, the replacements will be ruined too.

Also your wedding dress, anything silk, baby's shawl, your blankets and carpets, and any woollen padding on the mattress.

I work in claims and I've yet to see a policy which doesn't exclude infestation I'm afraid. Cedar blocks are supposed to be great as moth repellants. Sorry this has happened.

Vi spring bed which was stored upright, wrapped in plastic although not airtight is covered with infestation. A few thousand pounds at least to replace.
