We have a 17KG mirror in wooden frame that we want to hang in our stairwell above a door on the half landing so that it throws more light in from velux in roof.
I am just wondering the best way to hang this as its so weighty and because its been attached to drywall, my first thought was to, with dry wall anchors just screw x4 the frame to the wall and use screw caps to hide the screws. Would this be enough??? My other thought was to use attach a baton to the wall for the frame to sit on (maybe with an angle on the baton for the frame to sit in on) and then use something like this to attach the top:

I dont want to use picture wire or anything like that as a) the frame would always sit out from the wall at an angle b) I think there would be too much weight on the fixings
I pretty DIY competent but just don't want the bloody thing coming down!!!!
