Howdens 'Lamona' appliances.....any good?

Have done a search on here and there are no threads about them....which i find hard to believe.

Anybody got any and are they any good? Some prices seems very competitive for some appliances, but not so good for others.

I have the basic oven and gas hob, no fan. It's ok, I have no idea how much it was as it was here when we moved in. It only had one oven shelf, so we had to buy another - who only needs one shelf?! I think I would look around and just compare what else I could get for the same money, but it does what it says on the tin.

My honest opinion is you get what you pay for. Depends on your budget but if it's tight I'd stick to the best brand you can afford. I'd never have another Hotpoint washer though!

We'll probably go mid-range for appliances.

What dishwasher would you go for? We've had a couple of Bosch ones but to be honest they haven't been that spectacular....

From what I understand most of the Lamona products are identical to Beko (can search for spare parts and you will find that). So it depends on what you think of Beko. Not too bad I guess.

We've got the Lamona dishwasher and double oven and they're ok.

We've got a huge beko larder fridge which has been fab....

The lamona dishwasher is a good price, and as i say not massively blown away by bosch so may take a gamble on that one for the money...

Forgot that I have the dishwasher too. I actually bought that myself as I had one in the house before and have to say that does work well.

Trying so hard to find 'value for money' when planning this kitchen. Don't want cheap but rubbish...or overly expensive just for the brandname sake of it

I've got the Lamona double oven and gas hob and it's fab, half the price of the bosch one in the same catalogue and looks almost exactly the same. Would definitely use Lamona again. HTH

Also have the Lamona cooker hood in stainless steel and that's been great too

We had our entire kitchen fitted by Howdens and due to budget restraints ended up going with Lamona appliances.

We have:
Lamona 5 ring gas hob - great
Lamona stainless and glass extractor hood - great
Lamona double oven - great
Lamona integral fridge / freezer - great
Lamona dishwasher - good, only once did door not shut properly and steam / damp escaped. Could have been user error though.
Lamona washing machine - not so good. Door difficult to shut, will not spin properly if load a bit heavy, again, that last bit is due to user error really
Lamona tumble drier - great

All of the above have been in situ and in constant use for nearly a year.

My mum got all new Lamona appliances when she had a Howdens kitchen fitted three or four years ago. She has had major problems with the fridge freezer (even when it was under a year old) and some problems with the oven. So we went for "normal" brands in our new Howdens kitchen. I found that John Lewis were very very helpful when we went in and talked to the kitchen appliances salesman there, and then we did some of our own research (with the Which report) and got the actual appliances as cheaply as we could online.

The online places were Appliances Direct and Appliance World - had no problems with either in terms of delivery, quality of items etc (no getting smashed up in the delivery lorry etc), and they were the cheapest places we could find for our Neff and Zanussi appliances. You don't get a nice long guarantee like you would with John Lewis, but you can of course pay to extend the guarantees if you want.

Oh, I totally know what you mean about "value for money" - that was our guiding principle in choosing everything. We didn't want to do the whole thing as cheaply as possible only to have it look worn within 5 years, but also didn't want to pay for brand names just for the sake of it. Ask me in 10 years whether we got it right!

Lets hope we are smiling in 10years The current kitchen has creda and stoves oven and hob, and we've been here 6 years. They look very old but are working great but are brown!!! So must have been going for years and years!!!

I'm reviving this zombie thread, because it appears high up in the google results for 'lamona appliances reviews', which I wish there were more of before I ended up with a kitchen full of them!

Fridge freezer - died within a year. Freezer bit was ok, but the fridge couldn't even keep milk from going off.
Dishwasher - died within 2 years, but not before destroying the door front and worktop, because the door wouldn't close properly and leaked steam during the wash, warping the wood.
Washing machine - heating element died after 2 years, so clothes were being washed in cold water. Machine then totally died shortly afterwards, leaking water everywhere
Tumbledryer - rarely used but totally unreliable. Often cuts out within minutes of being turned on, so not an overheating or filter issue. Just crap.
Wine fridges - have never worked properly. Temp can't be adjusted and they are only slightly colder than room temp, but kick out warm air so clearly the cooling system is very inefficient

Please save your money if you are ever tempted with this brand! It has cost us a small fortune to replace everything so soon after having it installed.
And it clearly isn't unusual, because Howdens didn't seem remotely surprised (or willing to help) when I spoke to them about it

Interesting.. We are interested in a new property, it beautiful, amazing location etc. But with many issues.
Weird parking, east facing garden, very small garden, and it is FULL of lemona appliances..
Another reason for me to wait for the next right move email by the sound of it....

The nub of it is that Howdens are joiners/ cabinet makers.
The appliances are just a way of making money/getting more trade.
Some people like the whole job done for them by one company.
Their choice.
Get proper appliances from an appliance/electrical shop/online.
Choose a few models and then try and get them in the January
sales when they slash the prices (yeh I know there are always sales
but Jan is usually the best
